Book Review: The Virgin Romance Novelist ( book #1 ) – Meghan Quinn

synopsis single

Her bosom heaved at an alarming rate as his rough hand found its way down to her soft, yet wiry briar patch…

Can you say briar patch in a romance novel? What about meat sword? That’s what it is…a meat sword, right, all meaty and sword like, slaying through the inner dungeons of a woman’s dark desires. What about breasts? Do bosoms really heave?

God, I have no idea what happens when private parts touch.

I’m a virgin trying to write a romance novel and can’t seem to write past a sex scene thanks to my lack of experience.

My two best friends encourage me to drop the pen for a while and gain some real life practice through multiple dating facets such as blind dates, online profiles, and random hookups.

But losing my virginity is proving to be tougher than expected…

My Thoughts 2

A funny and charming romance. Meghan Quinn delivers 311 pages full of wit, sass, humor and unique personality. This book is a piece of art.

`The Virgin Romance Novelist` by Meghan Quinn is a rom-com. A rom – com that wasn´t quite my cup of tea. the virgin romance novelist

While I enjoyed the humor and charisma this book had, I wasn´t fully blown out of my socks. It´s an okay novel. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I liked the idea of the story. A virgin wanting to write a romance novel and not having the slightest clue how to go about it because she lacks the know how in the sex department. Sounds good, right? I thought it sounded fantastic! Refreshing, even.

But sometimes you just don´t buy the virgin game with book characters. Like I did ( or didn´t ). Maybe the reason for my indifference for this story is because of the Heroine´s intelligence regarding sex ( she did come across as an air head ) or perhaps it was because this book felt like it was just too in – your – face….. I really can´t pinpoint why. All I know is that I didn´t find many parts as humorous as they were set out to be.

Or (!!!) maybe I´m just not the type of person who appreciates this kind of read.

My biggest issue was the Heroine. My second biggest issue was the weird romance between the Hero and Heroine. Were they a couple or were they not? Friends with benefits? Did he just do people favors? What happened? What did I miss? Uugh. I probably missed something. Which is fine. I´m not too hot on finding out what it was.

But with that being said – I can see why many others would find this book out of this world fantabulous.

`The Virgin Romance Novelist`( The Virgin Romance Novelist #1 ) wasn´t written for me. And because of this I´m just going to skip the second book. I can´t work up enough interest for more about Rosie. I´ll let others take the stand and gush their love for this book.

Would I recommend this book? Yeah. I would. Fans of chick – lit, rom – coms will enjoy this read.

Would I reread this book? Nope.

The Cover – 3 Stars: I´m a little bit of a fan of the cover. Love the close up on the eyes. The filter used for the cover image, though… the whole things looks a tad over filtered.

The Story – 3 Stars: I liked the idea of the story.

The Characters – 3 Stars: I truly have no clue what to think of them.

My emotional state after finishing this read: Indifferent.

3 stars
