Happy Mug Monday! Today I´d like to share a simple yet calming picture I did the other day. Books in blue, topped off with my everyday mug and my Ikea blanket that looks rougher than it actually is.
We all have those mugs we constantly use. It´s the one we always look for when wanting to drink something hot. A go – to mug, if you prefer. That mug in the picture is my one and only mug. I´ve had it for years. You can say that I´m slightly attached to it.
As for the books- I´ve been rearranging my books ever since I moved into my own apartment. I treated my books as I do my clothes. Whites to whites. Blacks to blacks. And everything else that´s multi – colored goes on the awkward shelf ( Yes. I have one of those. It´s where I keep every book that has a busy cover or is so colorful that I can´t bare to look at it. Lol. Don´t judge. I already know I´m weird.).
It wasn´t until recently when I realized that I had just as many blue books than I do black ones. An idea was born:
Why not rearrange my books in a way that would pep my livingroom a little? Rearrange my books so my girls can think mommy is the coolest person alive?
My grande idea was to sort out the covers by using the rainbow system.
I´ve seen so many Instagram posts with bookshelves full of books sorted out by color ( First red then orange.. followed by yellow, green, blue, purple You get the picture ). How hard could it be to copy that idea even for my own pleasure? It didn´t look hard.
I could do it. I COULD DO IT! * shouting from a mountain top *
No. I couldn´t do it. * hanging head in defeat *
Needless to say – My idea didn´t work out as planned. BECAUSE (!!!!) I hate to see series and trilogies separated. That drives me completely bonkers! I can´t have all Black Dagger Brotherhood books spread out like a willing chicken.
And the book size issue. Don´t get me started on that.
The end result of my glorious idea? I went back to my old system. Within seconds I felt more at ease. Such a shame. If only all books came in the same size…. life would be so much more easier.
I´ll just stick to taking a certain color out once a week and stare at the books for a while before putting them back. ( I´m sure that´s considered a bookish problem. Bookish problem #458)
